Program Description
As a part of the California Community College system and the San Diego Community College District, San Diego Continuing Education has a vital role in higher education with a commitment to provide excellent educational programs and services to its students. These services are designed to promote access, retention and success for students, including those wishing to re-enter the educational system.
The mission of the San Diego Continuing Education Professional Development program is to support the professional growth of faculty, staff, and administrators by providing activities and events with the ultimate goal of maintaining the highest quality of service for our students.

Faculty may go to their online Flex Contract at https://cefaculty.sdccd.edu/ceflex/ceflexview.cfm to view their Flex Contract, register for Flex Professional Development events, and submit Indpendent Projects for Flex credit.
Professional Development Special Funds (unused sabbatical, as negotiated by AFT Guild) are currently available for professional development activities, including conference and travel. The goal is to assist as many requestors as funding will allow. Applications are processed as travel/conference funding requests.
Ancillary Funds. As part of Continuing Education’s effort to provide adjunct faculty with opportunities to grow professionally, ancillary activity funds may be used by adjunct faculty to engage in projects and activities that positively impact the organization. The attached form delineates the projects/activities that may be funded. Ancillary activity assignments are not counted toward an adjunct faculty member’s assigned FTEF making these assignments available to all adjunct faculty and required if the project/activity will generate a load exceeding .60 FTEF. Directions are included in the form and requests should be submitted four weeks prior to the project/activity.
